I monitor comments. I let them post and then if necessary, I'll pull them.
Why would I pull a comment? Foul language-my definition of foul (includes rudeness to another commentator). A rant, especially political, that has nothing to do with the post-get your own blog. Comment spam-the big problem. Spammers have gotten better at pretending to be real commentators but it's still easy to spot them. Generally it's the e-mail address or URL but sometimes the poster's name is a give away. So, spammers of the world, if I suspect that your comment is an attempt to piggyback on my work, I will delete the post and tell Typepad that I think you are spam. So don't be surprised when your comment disappears.
Also, while I'm explaining policies, I don't argue. Okay, I don't argue on the blog. I have my say in the post. If the comments show I made a mistake or there is something that needs clarifying, I'll comment or do another post. If you disagree with what I have written, please feel free to share that with me. But don't expect a debate.
Finally, Our Taxing Times is for general information. I don't answer personal tax questions. I get paid for that in the real world. And it's been my experience that 98% of the questioners either come in looking for their position to be agreed with or don't give me all the the necessary info to answer the question. If you want to know why you have to have a Form 8332 signed to claim your child, not a problem. But, don't expect me to tell you if it's okay to claim your "X" because they lived with you "X" months, you paid "X" bill or support, or what your attorney said. Sorry, make an appointment and bring your check book.
Hopefully, that clarifies everything.

Awesome Post!
I arrived at your Blog site looking for tax blogs for some "Sunday reading" on tax issues.
I was pleasantly surprised by this post and learned quite a lesson that no "blogger" or "social media" experts have been able to present to me.
This post seems to me as a great example of a permanent "blurb" I will consider putting on my Blog site.
Thank You very much Trish!
