I am not your tax maid. I refuse to care more about your taxes than you do. I am a tax professional and I will prepare your taxes, answer your questions, represent you before a tax authority. I'll even listen to your rants about the IRS and taxes (at least the first couple of times.)
But, I will not:
- Chase you down for info I need to finish the return or prepare a notice response. I'll tell you what I need and even give you a follow up call. But I will not call to remind you every few days. I gave you a list of what I need. I'll be glad to clarify anything or make suggestions on where to find the information but I won't hound you for the info (or form).
- Give you priority status when you bring me a notice that you have had for weeks and the response is due now or overdue. (The same goes for returns you need now. I'll do my best but no promises.)
- Clean up the same problem over and over because you won't follow the rules/procedures.
- Research the same tax question over and over because you didn't keep the answer the first time (second, third.)
- Send out reminders that it's time to file your taxes (April or October). I'll give you estimate reminders if you want to set those up - one call or e-mail a quarter.
