It doesn't surprise me that this bunch of bozos public employees we elected have turned the tax code into a partisan game of chicken. That's the way it has been for the last 2 years. I have held off on running a commentary on the state of the tax extenders, estate tax, and AMT. My intention was to wait until they actually passed something before posting something. But I am fed up. This is irresponsible even for a recent Congress.
I have a plan- Lock 'em In!
I think all Congressmen/women-Democrats/Republicans, Senators/Representatives should be rounded up and locked in their respective chambers until they resolve the tax issues. No one leaves the room and nothing else is worked on until we get the tax legislation they have avoided all year. Since they have been behaving like children, I say treat them like children. If they have to go to the bathroom, give them a hall pass to go and come back. Have one of the elementary schools cater the meals. Take away their ipads/ipods/blackberries/etc. They're grounded! And only let those elected into the chambers. No flappers staff or lobbyists allowed. If they need more information, give them the honest facts and figures not the talking points from their side.
I don't know if it will work, but a couple of days with no showers and sleeping in chairs might make Congress a little more likely to work together. If not, tempers will flair and the CSPAN coverage might be really fun to watch. True reality TV...Real World, Congress.

I think you're being too easy on them. First, no bathroom breaks - only depends; second, no catered meals - bread and water; third, a live feed on the cable network.

Watched the President speak....mark your calendar, two years from now, we will be going through the same thing. I didn't hear any mention of AMT patch though. Sure hope the dreaded MWP credit isn't extended!
