Auditions for Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum

Auditions for the first show of WCT's 2009-10 season, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum have been set. Director Melody Krueger will be holding auditions on Saturday May 30th and Sunday May 31 at 2pm. Auditions will be  held in Winfield Community Theatre in Meyer Hall on Baden Square. Auditions are open to everyone and no prepared materials are required.

"Tragedy tomorrow, comedy tonight!" Broadway's greatest farce is light, fast-paced, witty, irreverent and one of the funniest musicals ever written – the perfect escape from life's troubles. “A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum” takes comedy back to its roots, combining situations from time-tested, 2000 year old comedies of Roman playwright Plautus with the infectious energy of classic vaudeville. The result is a non-stop laugh-fest in which a crafty slave (Pseudolus) struggles to win the hand of a beautiful but slow-witted courtesan (Philia) for his young master (Hero), in exchange for freedom.

With its unforgettable zany characters, a hysterical, perfectly constructed book by Larry Gelbart (of “MASH” and “City Of Angels” fame) and Burt Shevelove, and witty Stephen Sondheim songs which are modest in their vocal demands;  "Comedy Tonight", "Lovely", "Pretty Little Picture", "Everybody Ought to Have a Maid", to mention a few.

Contact Melody at 221-2515 or email wct@winfieldcommtheatre.com for more info or if you have conflicts with the scheduled audition times.

Work Day

Lost Shows

The search is on for lost show information. WCT has been working to get our history on our web site and we have created pages for most of our shows. Of the 153 shows we have presented to date, only 23 have no page. That is because we have not be able to find a program or pictures for that show. There are other 19 shows for which we just have some pictures. We have posted a list of the missing shows here. If you have a program from one of these shows, please share a copy. You can mail to PO Box 347, Winfield, KS 67156, fax the copy to 620-442-6267 or email the info to wct@winfieldcommtheatre.com. If you have pictures, please consider sharing those also. Any original info will be returned to you.

We are always looking for stories about the shows and the theatre. We have a memories form (bottom of the Memory Pages) you can fill out and we will add it to the Memories Pages.
