Man of La Mancha Auditions
Auditions for the final show
of the special 40th Anniversary Season of the Winfield Community
Theatre have been announced. The auditions for ‘Man of La Mancha’, directed by Melody Krueger and Julia Lambert, will be Sunday February 24 from
. All auditions will be at the Winfield Community Theatre in Meyer Hall at Baden Square. Parts are available for 15 men and 5 women. There are also parts for soldiers, prisoners, prison guards, etc. Non-singing parts are available. There are no children’s parts.
‘Man of
La Mancha’ is a remarkable show based on Cervantes’ “Don Quixote.” It is a poignant story of a dying old man whose impossible dream takes over his mind. It's All the Same, Dulcinea, I'm Only Thinking of Him, The Impossible Dream, I Really Like Him and Little Bird remain in your thoughts and in your soul well after you see the show. His dream is Everyman's dream. His tilting at windmills is Everyman's great adventure. Somehow, the footlights disappear, time is telescoped and the "Man of La Mancha" speaks for humankind.
Show dates are April 25 and 26th, with a
matinee on the 27th and again on May 2 and 3rd. Additional adults are always welcomed who
wish to help with, or learn how to do costumes, sets, backstage crew,
publicity, lights, sound, etc. They may
also attend the auditions if so desired.
Auditions are very simple and no prepared materials are necessary. Small selections of music from the show for
auditions will be provided and rehearsed during auditions. Both those auditioning for singing and
non-singing parts will be asked to read from the script. Experience is not necessary.
