Good-bye Worrall

It is with a sad heart that Winfield Community Theatre recognizes the passing of Worrall Clift. Worrall has long been a supporter of our theatre. He appeared in productions like the original Music Man and Everyone Loves Opal. Winning the Hambone award for Opal. He also served on the WCT board of directors in the 1970s. While not as active in recent years, Worrall was a dedicated supporter of the theatre through attendence at performances and joined us at the Hall of Fame induction a week before his passing.

Good-Bye Norman

It is with a sad heart that Winfield Community Theatre says good-bye to Norman Callison. He passed away August 5, 2009. Norman was highly active in Winfield theatre. He was a founding board member of WCT while teaching drama at Southwestern College. He also founded Horsefeathers and Applesauce Dinner Theatre. Norman was inducted into WCT's Hall of Fame as part of the 40th Anniversary Reunion. 

A memorial service has been set for Sunday, August 16th at 2:30pm. The curtain for the matinee for A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum has been moved back to 4:30pm.

Lost Shows

The search is on for lost show information. WCT has been working to get our history on our web site and we have created pages for most of our shows. Of the 153 shows we have presented to date, only 23 have no page. That is because we have not be able to find a program or pictures for that show. There are other 19 shows for which we just have some pictures. We have posted a list of the missing shows here. If you have a program from one of these shows, please share a copy. You can mail to PO Box 347, Winfield, KS 67156, fax the copy to 620-442-6267 or email the info to wct@winfieldcommtheatre.com. If you have pictures, please consider sharing those also. Any original info will be returned to you. 

We are always looking for stories about the shows and the theatre. We have a memories form (bottom of the Memory Pages) you can fill out and we will add it to the Memories Pages.

Memories

Four pages of stories and memories have been added to the WCT web site. A special thanks to Warren Andreas for sharing. Each page has a form where anyone, cast, crew, audience member, can share a story that will be added to the web site. 

We are still looking for programs, photos and any other information about shows, the Barn, or WCT to add to are web archive. If you have something to share, please contact us at wct@winfieldcommtheatre.com or use the memories form. All original materials will be returned once they have been copied.

Congratulations Warren, Jane and George

Last week at the WCT annual meeting, a new tradition was un-veiled; The Lifetime Achievement Award. Winfield Community Theatre's Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes those who have given long service and dedication to our theatre. The initial recipients are Warren Andreas, Jane Lamb and George Lancaster. All three have been involved since WCT began. They have all participated not only as performers but also behind the scenes as directors, crew members and as board members. We would not have the thriving theatre we have today without their hard work. Thank you Warren, Jane and George for all your hard work and dedication.

Early shows

We have been working to put the early history of Winfield Community Theatre online. Thanks to the work of Warren Andreas, Ned Graham, JJ Banks, and many others much of the early histories have been put on CDs. From there, we are slowly creating show pages for the early shows. This will link to the show pages we already online. The best way to start is on the showpage . You will be to visit the specific show you would like. Or you can follow the links at the top and bottom of the pages and trace the shows from the start to today. Have fun!

At last, the past show information has been added. Just go to the main web site, there are links to the Show Archive on the Home, Barn (history), and Meyer (theatre) pages. While you can't search, yet, you can browse the past production list or look at the web pages for last season' shows. More information and web pages will be added.
